Norton Shores Trails
UX | UI | Digital Prototyping

With Norton Shores located right on the beaches of Lake Michigan, the natural scenery deserves to be seen by all. While the city is host to several parks, they are scarcely marketed and easily overlooked.
Understand
In order to understand my end user, I wanted to understand how they experienced the Norton Shores Trail System. I did this by visiting the parks and interviewing Norton Shores residents.

After gathering information on my audience, I wanted to lay out all of the information I could gather to help me identify what I should focus the experience on.

Opportunities
1. Encourage exploring new parks.
2. Create a trails community around Norton Shores.
3. Inform users on the trails in the area
4. Collect trail data in saved accounts.
Encourage Exploring
Allowing users to browse trails based on activities directs them to trails more suited towards them sooner.

Creating Community
Users record the trails they visited and leave reviews for other users to get an idea of different trails from members of their community.

Trail Education
Users gain an understanding of each trail including attributes, community gathered images reviews, and a map that can be viewed offline through the app.

Social Media Presence
Norton Shores maintains social media to keep residents informed on trail information and updates in a casual way, offering another way for the community to engage with the trails.
